2018 AUSWAN CREEK ‘DIPLOMAT’ 70 SHIRAZ
Variety: Shiraz
Vintage: 2018
Region: Barossa Valley, SA
Winemaking: Components of this wine have been matured in French oak for at least 12 months. Old, seasoned oak barrel were used to add to the tannin and texture, without overpowering the pristine fruit.
Tasting Note: A tempting nose of allspice, fresh leather and plums leads to a rich, velvety palate. It’s harmonious yet complex and still tightly wound. Savoury and umami flavours of porcini arise. Spicy oak tones marry with the rich core. This is a long-term cellaring option from the stellar 2018 vintage.
Cellaring: Drinking well now, and will mature over the next 18+ years.
